I
feel fortunate to have a private practice in the Fremont neighborhood of
Seattle, integrating Classical Five Element Acupuncture and Traditional
Chinese Medicine (TCM) with bodywork and Zen Buddhism.
I have
worked with people from ages 10-80, struggling with everything from injury
rehabilitation to anxiety/depression to various chronic illnesses. I specialize
in working with the mental-emotional-spiritual root causes as to
why the body isn't healing itself, and am honored to facilitate people's
unique journey of health and wellness.
When
not working with patients, I can be found lecturing or teaching zen meditation
and qigong at various venues around Seattle.
The
sages of thousands of years ago learned that we can achieve not only health
and wellness, but true liberation from all suffering by living in harmony
with our environment. This philosophy continues to guide both my professional
and personal path.

The
Feldenkrais Method
Awareness Through Movement® (classes)
In
this class I verbally lead students through a series of comfortable, easy
movements that gradually evolve in range and complexity. Lessons take place
sitting, lying on the floor, kneeling, or standing. These precisely structured
movement explorations utilize thinking, sensing, moving and imagining as
tools for improving all aspects of human functioning.
Functional Integration® (individual lessons)
These
lessons may include verbal instructions as in the Awareness Through Movement
lessons, but also I direct the student's attention through gentle touch.
Each lesson is custom-tailored to the needs and curiosity of the student
at that moment in time. Through this engaging process, students discover
new ways of approaching the simple activities of daily life and awaken
access to their full potential for vital, embodied living.
Somatic
Experiencing
Somatic
Experiencing® is a body-oriented approach to trauma. It’s based on
the realization that human beings have an innate ability to overcome the
effects of trauma, and they then can return to a greater sense of aliveness,
relaxation and wholeness. This work is done in a one-on-one session.
__________
I have
two hats on when I'm working with individuals. The first hat is a Sherlock
Holmes one; the Feldenkrais Method inspires curiosity and an openness to
see what unfolds between the client and practitioner, and we unravel the
mystery together. As awareness of our movement improves so too does our
balance, ease and overall sense of well-being.
When
our history contains accident, injury and trauma, it's often challenging
to come out of a protective pattern in our movement which at one point
helped us to feel safe in the world. This is where Somatic Experiencing
can be so useful. This is a body-oriented approach to trauma. It's based
on the realization that human beings have an innate ability to overcome
the effects of trauma, and they can return to a greater sense of aliveness.
I get
to take people on one of the most exotic explorations possible; their own
self.
The
Feldenkrais
Method and Somatic Experiencing dovetail well to guide a person
to greater agility, resiliency and sense of well-being.
Being
in one's own body can be enjoyable.

Want
to feel relaxed, calm and balanced?
I offer
you an integrative approach of deeply relaxing, balancing bodywork (clothes
on) combined with visualization, body awareness and reflective dialogue
(Rubenfeld Synergy Method®). This gentle bodywork uses elements from
Alexander technique and Feldenkrais movements to balance the body and release
energy blocks. Addressing body and mind as a unit while being in a relaxed
state helps you tap into the body’s innate healing capacity; experience
a deeper connection with your whole self; and generate balance, vitality
and well-being in your life.
During
my many years as a physician in Sweden I clearly saw the influence that
emotional stress had on the physical health of my patients. It made me
interested in the emerging field of mind-body medicine and body-mind therapy.
I discovered the Rubenfeld Synergy training in the US, and after completion
of the 3-year training program, I now have 15 years of experience in the
US as a Rubenfeld Synergist/body-mind counselor.
With
this holistic background I offer a safe, accepting and nurturing space
for stress release, self discovery, and healing.
My
passion is to help people create balance of body and mind and find renewed
energy and inspiration in their daily lives.

Present
Sense is a unique community space in Wallingford that is available for
rent for classes, workshops, groups, and rehearsals. Renting at Present
Sense can be more than just writing a check for a space. The intention
behind everything we do here is to create vibrant, healthy community, and
that begins with the community of people who use this space for teaching
and events. We hold quarterly meetings for renters to get to know
each other and to contribute to building this special place for people
to learn and grow. We also plan community salons at Present Sense that
are run by renters. The vision of the space is to grow a community which
encourages creativity and awareness as natural human activities vital to
our individual and collective well-being.
The
space consists of two rooms, which are connected by an open doorway. The
small room holds groups up to 8-10 and the large room holds up to 16 -
20 people (more for performance-style seating.) There is a kitchen with
sink, fridge, microwave, and hot-water pot. The floors are painted concrete
(great for art classes) and there is lots of natural light from the large
windows and a very large skylight.

Energy
work is an amazing modality for clearing and moving forward; for healing
on all levels. It is a tailwind for transformation. Clients
seeking to create new direction, healing and/or change are those that are
served best by this work.
Individuals
who have the intention to heal the past, reframe the present and invite
a more beneficial future are wonderful candidates for an Awakening
session. Awakening sessions are similar to, yet
more profound than Reiki -- from my experience. They are powerful,
yet gentle and effective, in clearing energetic imbalances, which accrue
over time within the emotional, mental and physical subtle/auric bodies.
Stagnant or blocked energy inhibits one’s ability to move forward, in addition
to creating illness, dis-ease, or a feeling or knowing that a shift is
what is needed.
As
an Awakening facilitator and Reiki Master Practitioner, it is my honor
to serve to help this life-force energy to clear and flow. I assist
my clients to relax and allow their Higher, Knowing Self to be present
in their physical being. When this happens, a tremendous and often
profound gateway appears. Change and transformation follow our trust in
the universal flow.
Awakening
sessions
are comfortable, healing and safe. They are relaxing, peaceful
and like a warm energy bath. Clients are fully clothed on a massage
table. Sessions range from 60-90 minutes in length.

I
provide hypnotherapy for many issues such as weight loss, smoking cessation,
pain management, accelerated healing, chronic diseases, pre- and post-surgery,
childbirth, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and phobias.
Hypnosis
is natural and perfectly safe. It is a deep relaxation of body and mind
in which you maintain complete control. It is an altered state which allows
positive suggestions to be readily received by the subconscious mind. Since
the subconscious mind contains our emotions, imagination, memories, and
the autonomic nervous system which controls all our bodily functions; deep
changes are possible through hypnosis -- both physical and emotional.
Through
hypnosis the subconscious mind can be reached to gain a greater understanding
of our issues. Most issues can be resolved in 3-6 hypnotherapy sessions.
In
addition to private sessions, I teach several classes:
-
Hypnosis
for Weight Loss
-
Self-Hypnosis
-
Hypnosis
for Stress Reduction
-
Hypnosis
for Childbirth
I provide
self-hypnosis CDs for private clients and for class participants. I also
make personal CDs for private clients.

Can
you imagine releasing old, negative patterns? What would it be like to
experience more joy in your life? How would it feel to free yourself from
emotional and physical pain?
Living
in this body, right now, can be a difficult challenge. Loving and accepting
who you are enables you to rise above that challenge in order to experience
the benefits of emotional growth. Through this process, you will find many
aspects of your life change, improve, and become more manageable.
I am
a Catalyst for Emotional Change. My passion with my clients is to help
facilitate their freedom from old patterns, negative thoughts, and self-sabotaging
actions. Through this work, my clients experience greater joy and connection,
while many are able to finally live the life they have always desired.
I have
developed programs around Body Image, Sugar Addiction, and how to Make
Peace with Your Food. I have facilitated classes, workshops, as well as
led Break up and Divorce Support Groups. My speaking engagements have included
Virginia Mason’s Bariatric Support Groups, Highline Community College,

I love
the process of discovering and shifting unconscious blocks. Utilizing meditation,
hypnotherapy, and EFT, I work with people who have pain, specific fears,
unwanted habits, and subconscious behaviors that they are ready to move
away from.
I believe
that as human beings, we all have intrinsic value. Whether you have been

I
offer you a unique, gentle, and empowering body-mind approach to stress
reduction, personal growth, and healing. The Rubenfeld Synergy Method®
is an effective synthesis of body-oriented counseling, mindfulness, guided
imagery, and relaxing, balancing bodywork (clothes on).
Listening
to the body-mind with awareness, acceptance, and compassion is a gateway
to a deeper connection to your whole self, and it makes change possible.
This kind of listening helps you identify and release unconscious patterns
and suppressed emotions from old traumas that may control how you feel
and behave in the present. It helps you reconnect to your strength and
inner wisdom, bring clarity, build confidence, and develop wellness-promoting
strategies for your everyday life.
During
my many years as a physician in Sweden I clearly saw the influence that
emotional stress had on the physical health of my patients. It made me
interested in the emerging field of mind-body medicine and mind-body therapy.
I discovered the Rubenfeld Synergy training in the US, and after completion
of the 3-year training program, I now have 15 years of experience as a
Rubenfeld Synergist/body-mind counselor in this country.
With
this holistic background I offer a safe, accepting, and nurturing space
for stress release, self discovery, and healing..
My
passion is to help people create balance of body and mind, get in touch
with their authentic, resourceful selves, and find renewed energy and inspiration
in their daily lives.

I
provide mindfulness-based counseling for men and women who are looking
not only for relief from suffering, but for a connection with the deeper
truth of their life. My work is based on the principle that all life is
interconnected, and that real satisfaction and purpose comes from finding
and relaxing into our place in that web.
The
"present" is the place where you are truly alive, and in our work together
we will listen to where you are now and the resources that are available
to you there. I strive to approach you with kindness, acceptance, empathy,
and a deep commitment to your being heard and understood. At the same time,
I will challenge you to find greater clarity and to live your life with
the integrity and wholeness you long for.
Some
of the tools that I use in my work are Marshal Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication
model; body-oriented psychotherapy practices such as Hakomi Therapy; writing,
drawing and other expressive arts; the Enneagram; system's theory; my own
time spent in the natural world; and a lifetime of living, thinking, and
being in relationship with myself and others.

As
a nutritionist and energy medicine practitioner, I work primarily with
clients who desire to let go of old habits and patterns of belief and behavior
around eating, weight and body image. My approach is catered to meet
my clients where they are, and more importantly, to respect the path they
have already walked. Sessions include counseling and energy
work. For clients who are not drawn to receive energy work, I do
offer counseling services solely.
After
working in a traditional nutrition counseling setting for a number of years,
I came to see that “rules” and nutrition plans do not make for lasting
change. In fact, when individuals are not encouraged/taught to listen
to the wisdom of their bodies and intuition, the result can be incredibly
self-defeating, perpetual, and crazy-making.
Many
of my clients express that they are “done” with their current relationship
to food; they know that it no longer serves them, it needs to be different,
but have trouble seeing their way clearly forward. This is where
energy work, as part of the path through a tenuous relationship to food,
is an amazing modality. Energy work is a tailwind for transformation
that, together, we couple with new tools and perspective. There truly
is a shift in consciousness that occurs.
Even
the most dramatic or entrenched pattern of disordered eating can be broken
when a client learns to listen to her body, stay present with herself and
employ curiosity. The philosophy and experience that guides my practice
is that deep and lasting change does occur as clients are supported to
shift beliefs, behavior and taught to trust. Session content may
include mindfulness, attending to physical and emotional hungers, strategies
for healthy food choices, overcoming emotional eating, developing intuition,
etc.

I
understand the need to put your best face forward and that you must be
connected to the well being of your body. I know how to select a treatment
and products that will help you do this. I combine my experience as an
esthetician and massage therapist in each of my treatments.
I work best at a relaxing, soothing, healing experience combining European,
Ayurvedic, Asian and Reiki techniques to my treatments. I believe
that good skin care starts with a calm and nurtured soul.

I
specialize in treating hard to diagnose illnesses and chronic disease using
homeopathy, diet, nutrition. botanical medicine and counseling. As a primary
care physician I can order bloodwork, food allergy panels, heavy metal
testing and other tests as needed.
I'm
currently seeing clients who prefer a more spiritual and energetic approach
to healing and are working on ways to bring positive changes to their lives.
I use the collective knowledge of healers such as Abraham/Hicks, Louise
Hay, Caroline Myss and others in my work. I use applied kinesiology (muscle
testing) to determine what works best for your body.
10
years in practice.
I
accept most insurance plans.

I
have been providing spiritual guidance to people seeking wisdom for over
15 years.
I began
my own spiritual journey in childhood, when I encountered my first teachers
in the stones and streams, trees and animals – the natural world was speaking
and I was listening. I deepened my learning with the earth-spirit
traditions of indigenous peoples from the Native tribes of North America,
the Aboriginals of Australia, the Mystics of Asia, and the rainforest tribes
of South America.
I offer
spiritual guidance for those seeking questions about the after-life, past-life,
spirit guides and closure with deceased loved ones. I’m a multicultural
healer of the Open Heart – Open Path tradition blending healing modalities
from around the world into an easy and assessable format for those exploring
spiritual healing. I am highly attuned to both the Ascended Masters/Angelic
Realms as well as the Ancestors/Earth Spirits. I bring forth this
wisdom in both my private sessions and class formats.
Healing
is offered through spiritual counseling sessions, sacred ceremonies, workshops,
and gemstone healing sessions.

I
am available to provide individual or small-group meditation training.
Get individual support for your practice or bring a friend for a deeper
experience of the present moment with another person.
I teach
two types of meditation: mindfulness meditation and a visualization-based
meditation. Mindfulness meditation focuses on training your mind to be
gently and compassionately aware of the present moment. The visualization-based
meditation provides tools for understanding how you are using your energy,
becoming more conscious of healthy boundaries, and gaining access to all
your physical and spiritual abilities. Both are excellent ways to train
your brain to be more calm, clear, and resilient under stress.
I also
host free community mindfulness practice groups at Present Sense in Wallingford.
Groups meet on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30 - 9:20 a.m.
There are also half-day Mindfulness Retreats throughout the year.
See
the schedule at www.present-sense.com
for more information on free community mindfulness practice groups.
Also
find me in the Mental Health and Well
Being category and see Present Sense in the Community
Care category on this page.
